Moving into a brand-new home feels like a fresh start. The rooms are empty, the cabinets are clean, and there is finally plenty of space.
But new construction does not automatically mean your home will be easy to organize.

When one area is expected to serve too many unrelated purposes, clutter usually follows.
Organize First and Shop Second
It is tempting to purchase matching bins and organizers before unpacking. But until you know what you own, what you are keeping and where it needs to go, it is difficult to know which products will actually help.
Start by grouping similar items together, removing what you no longer need and deciding where each category should live. Then measure the space before purchasing organizers.
The right products can make a system easier to maintain. The wrong ones simply create another item to store.
Prioritize the Rooms That Make Daily Life Easier
You do not have to organize the entire house at once.
Begin with the spaces that will have the greatest effect on your daily routine:
The kitchen and pantry
Primary bedroom and bathroom
Entry or drop zone
Children’s rooms
Laundry room
Home office
Once those areas are functional, the rest of the home usually feels much more manageable.

You may not know immediately how every cabinet, closet and room will work best—and that is okay.
Some organizing decisions should be made after you have lived in the home long enough to understand your routines. Avoid filling every shelf simply because the space is available.
